Writing for Performance Workshops at Radius Artspace.

I am running 2 workshops exploring writing for performance at Radius Arts Space in November.

Each workshop will lead participants through different approaches to writing for performance in diverse contexts, and are an opportunity to generate writing and then experiment with that writing in a safe supported and non-judgemental setting. The focus is on embodiment, to bring text to life through the spoken form, and comes from my experimental practice with text and performance, and can be used with dance, theatre, spoken word, installation or any genre of performance. Mostly it will be fun, meditative and reflective, so come and try.

The 2 workshops in this series are:

Writing from the Senses

Why is sensory perception important for performance writing? Tap into your senses as a writer, and explore how this can draw your audience in. How can you leave space for the performer to evoke the sensory world you are creating?

Sunday November 2nd, 2-4 pm

Movement in Writing

Explore ways to bring text and movement together. Whether you are writing for physical performance, dance, or for character, this workshop will give fresh approaches to generating and structuring your writing in relation to movement.

Sunday November 9th, 2-4 pm

Genevieve Picot, Sophia Constantine (and myself) in Birdcage Thursdays

All levels of experience are welcome. The only thing needed is a curiosity about writing for performance, and a willingness to explore.
